Installing Netbeans 7.x.x on Ubuntu 12.04

I had a problem installing Netbeans on Ubuntu 12.04 if i’m using openjdk.

Here is the steps I took to rectify the issue

1 – Install oracle jdk using the command below

sudo apt-get purge openjdk-7-jre icedtea-7-plugin
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-jdk7-installer

2 – install netbeans – make sure you have the right permission for it (chmod +x) Thanks zhuyangba

sudo sh ./netbeans

Update: Its in the repo, just do ‘sudo apt-get install netbeans’ ( Kudos to Mark L.)

After you install the JDK, do this:

Run chmod +x , and then double click the which will open Terminal to install it.

Took me a little while. Installed grate. Java was installed from the net. Netbeans 7.2.1 was downloaded previously from the site. Already working on my first app for my LG800G phone. Thank you my friend…… David
